Army Ranger and past criminal record?

hi i plan on joining the Army in a year or two when i finish my degree in Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice. I want to go 11B with Airborne School and RIP in my contract. One problem though, when i was 14 years old a friend and I were arrested for shop lifting at a thrift store. We were hand cuffed, finger printed and had our mugshots taken at the police station. Our parents came and picked us up after about 5 hours of being at the station, we didn't have to be bailed out and I don't even think I was charged with anything because it was so minor, I live in Chicago, my mother however told me that they said my record would be clean if I stayed out of trouble until my 17th birthday but she is often full of ****.

Right now I'm 20 years old, I'm in decent physical shape, I graduated high school with B average, and haven't been in any trouble other than that one incident in my whole entire life. In fact I actually thought that my record was clean until I tried applying for a security guard job which required me to get my finger prints taken for a Perk card. The employer ran my prints and told me that I was clear on with Illinois State Police but I wasn't with the FBI. I then called the Illinois state Police and they said that the FBI still has my prints from that one incident and that since it was a juvenile record they would have no problem getting it expunged.

but the thing that caused me to ask this question was today when my professor, who used to be a special agent, told the class that FBI never gets rid of records.

So I guess what I want to know is how will this effect my chances of getting the clearance required for the my desired MOS in the Army and also with future employment in the Law Enforcement community?Army Ranger and past criminal record?
hey i also am looking in to going to the army by the end of the year i also am looking in to going airborne ranger and after that i plan on going 11x your juvenile record should not be a problem if they didn't charge you all they have is your finger prints which might raise a flag but your recruiter should be able to take care of that but be sure to tell your recruiter up front any and every thing do not leave out any details maybe i will see you there

This is to show how much we have

changed, and is it for the better or worse? Think about it!

School: 1957 vs. 2008, some things to think about?
unfortunatly this is sad but true..Very thought provoking. this is a good one! Just so,so sad that kids can't be kids nowadays. It's true as stated above things have changed and gotten worse but not to the extreme it is made to be now.School: 1957 vs. 2008, some things to think about?
I really wish some of that wasn't so true.
the 1950's were so much better for sure
Sure we have changed, but there was a great deal happening behind closed doors, as well as scandal and ruined lives when things came out in the open. Remember, illegal abortions meant dangerous abortions. People married when unready. There were still gangs, drugs and violence. People were taught to consume and conform in the fifties- that is when our culture of consumption began.

I want to become a military intelligence officer. should i go ROTC or just wait?

I am a junior in college and i am majoring in law enforcement.

my ultimate goal is to work for the FBI or the DOD or something of that nature.

i always planned on going into the military, but after sitting in classrooms my entire life i am beginning to become restless, and feel insignificant.

my question is

should i wait until i graduate from college and then go OCS. or should i join the ROTC and become an officer through them.

The ROTC seems like a lot of busy work and fluff, and the OCS seems like more of a direct route after college, but i am not sure which one is better, and which one will allow me to get the job i want in the military.

I don't care about the money, this is simply a career move. as the FBI and DOD will look at candidates with military experience first.

i have talked to a few recruiters but to tell you the truth they sound like a bunch of snake oil salesmen trying to get me to sign my life over. promising me a job in MI. when in fact they could retract that at the drop of a hat and have me working at a kitchen in Fallujah, or getting my *** blown off in the streets of Baghdad.

don't get me wrong. its not that i don't want to see some action. its just not my first choice.

I want to become a Military Intelligence Officer. tell me how to do that.I want to become a military intelligence officer. should i go ROTC or just wait?
I went to ROTC so I may be a little biased but I think that is the best option. The program is a minimum of two years, but they can and most likely will pay for it. Seeing as how you are a junior, you could actually start working on a master's degree that second year. It really depends on how you're looking with your credit hours.

As far as MI, it really is a hard branch to get. There is no way to completely guarantee your branch. It seems that OCS is harder to get what you want though. In ROTC, you get ranked nationally and for the most part, the higher you are, the better chance you have of getting what you want. It's based highly on GPA and leadership that's accessed in ROTC and at LDAC. You can do an ADSO to improve your chances of getting the branch you want, but it will add years of service should you get that branch.

Be careful with OCS, because it's not guaranteed you will even get to go after you complete Basic and AIT.

Overall, I suggest ROTC. You can work hard and apply yourself, and it won't be a waste of time. You'll learn a lot and have a good chance of getting MI if you keep GPA up and develop your leadership skills.I want to become a military intelligence officer. should i go ROTC or just wait?
Well since you are not consistant in the capitalization of the proper noun 'I' then no, you don't seem to have the basic attention to detail or intelligence to be an officer.

Thank you and have a wonderful day.
Both options are about the same..... When you complete either of them you will be given a ';Dream Sheet';.....you will select three branches.....The military will ';try'; to give you your first choice.....but you will be assigned to the branch based on their needs not your desire

While it is true you can later possibly change branches (??) it is not the best course

Based on your major I feel you will possibly end up in the MP's

In your shoes I would go ROTC.... trust me.....I went to OCS.....and I taught ROTC at two universities.... your chances of getting some help is better in ROTC.... (BTW keep my address.....in your third year when you go to summer camp.....contact me I will give you some good tips)

While I was an Engineer officer.....I also spent considerable time in the Intelligence field ( both enlisted and officer)....

If you want to work for the FBI / DOD.....why serve in the military at all?..... Why not explore the options of going to work for them without the detour to the military

I most certainly DO!

Think about it!1958 vrs 2008. Do you agree?
I don't go back as far as the 50's but I got my share of paddling when I was in school in the 80's-I was a problem student and what else can a teacher do,even though I never learned from all the times I got swatted,I know other students thought twice before acting up after seeing me grabbing my ankles for 5 hard whacks!1958 vrs 2008. Do you agree?
Most of the stuff you said happens in ';2008'; doesn't. If there's a punch up at school, the kids get a detention.. what's with the whole ';SWAT Team'; Geez... where the f'uck do you live?

Personally, 2008 is a lot better, then 1958. With corporate punishment, and what not.

A/N: Everything that you listed as ';1958 Scenarios'; happens, at my school in 2009!
''This should hit every email inboxor Bulletin to show how stupid we have become!''

yes, you have become MORE stupid; these things happen only in america.
This is absolutely correct.
You're absolutely right. It's very, very sad, isn't it?

I know where this started and how it got this far, but every time I type it out, I get reported...the liberal Democrats keep thinking I'm attacking them when all we have to do is look at history...guess they don't like owning up to it...
No, guns should be kept out of school.

Now we just want to keep all the students safe. We don't want some lunatics bring guns to schools.

Keep the guns at home.

Do you remember when life was much simpler? How do you like this joke?

Thanks for sharing!
I think it's truth taken to extremes..but truth, nonetheless.

I'm sorry! I don't think it's 'funny ha-ha'...it's more like...something that makes you think. Thanks for sharing!

How stupid have we become?

So what do you think? Am i wasting points or actually showing how dumb we Americans have become? star is you please??? thanks! How stupid have we become?
It's never a problem until someone makes it a problem.

One expensive lawsuit and several ';once-taken-for-granted'; freedoms are lost.

One maniac with a gun at school redefines what parents want (and deserve) in safety for their kids.

One pervert is allowed into the school system, and again, rules and boundaries have to be reformed and redrawn.

Only, between 1957 and 2007, there've been far more than one perverts and far more than one maniacs with guns and far more than one frivolous lawsuits.

It's not, ';How dumb have we become?';

It's ';How violent have we become?';

';How evil have we become?';How stupid have we become?
I think this one answers another question about why the good old days were better. It's not just that we are becoming stupid, we are also becoming wussies. You never once mentioned therapy in the 1957 but look at how often it turns up in 2007. We didn't used to need the government interfering in our lives that much, either.

dont trust.. its a scam...Excellent opportunity or scam?
    SCAM!!!!!
This is 100% scam. This sounds very familiar to the Nigeria scam, or the 419 scam. If you do a search on google, you can find all the details on the 419 scam, but long story short, there have been people who had been duped, lost money, and even had their lives in danger from it.

Avoid any emails that ask for your bank information. Any kind that asks for it outright is a scam.
Almost all of these kinds of enterprises are fake. I don't know the intricacies of business to spot where the snags are. Perhaps someone else that has knowledge about this and is willing to share can be more pointed about it than I am.

There is either some loophole about what they must/are disclosing about this venture that you will only learn about once you start 'working' for this 'company', or what they are claiming does not apply to you as advertised, but it applies to *some*!

Hard to say.....contact the bureau of consumer affairs in your state and see if they can help. Send them the entire text you posted here if you do so.

There is a proliferation of these 'over seas' scam-companies predating on people and it makes it very difficult to check them out, but by all means do so if you are considering this even in the least.

So......I am pretty sure this is a scam, but I can't tell you exactly WHY it is.....maybe others can tho.
As they say, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is
What they are saying is that it is a huge international business %26amp; they only have a uk mobile no %26amp; google email address?!!! SCAM
    It's a pretty common scam.

The cheques are counterfeit - you'll send the money to these guys, the checks will bounce, and you'll be looking at fraud and racketeering charges from your bank, plus you'll have to pay them back the full amount of the check.

    Run away from this one.
Scam. It would seem to be evading transfer tax which is presumably a legal governement tax. As you know evading tax is illegal. Even if it is breaking the spirit of the law. If this sort of plan has been officially allowed by the relevent tax authorities it would be OK. But can you imagine that? Everyone would be doing it.

Why is an Italian company corresponding through a UK address?
SCAM. SCAM. SCAM. DONT TRUST IT I'VE GOTTEN THIS TYPE OF JUNK MAIL BEFORE.
I can't speak for that company. it sounds a little funny that they want you to cash their checks. But I can speak for mine.

How would I end a personal essay about myself? Please help.?

“Wow”, I’m back to College. I thought after attending Bryman College I was done with school, news’s flash that was the being of nothing. I always said that by the time I was twenty-five I would be done with my Bachelors degree in Business / Accounting, and that I would own a house, with no children. Well I’m twenty-four years old now. I just started going back to college, to peruse my degree in Business / Accounting, which I always have dreamed of having. I am happily currently married and have a beautiful 19-month-old son, who keeps my hands full. My son Michael is the reason why I decided to go back to school. Life right now is not going as planed, but I would not change it for the world.

I graduated from Pioneer High School in 2002. Right after High School I attended Rio Hondo Community College, however that did not go as planed. I was working part time at Home Depot as a cashier and attending Rio Hondo as a full time student. I was not completely focused on school, I knew that I wanted to be there but for some reason or another, school was not for me at that moment. I then attended Bryman College and graduated with a Diploma in Business Administration, which lead me into the career that I want to peruse.

I am majoring in Business Accounting because I like numbers and I find it very interesting when I have to do audit research. My first office job was at Katzkin Leather Interiors Corp, where there I started as an Accounts Receivable Clerk. I really enjoyed my job, but after two years there I found it very boring, doing the same thing over and over. There was no room for advancement I then found a better job at Paragon Schmid Building Products, where there I was the Accounts Receivable and Billing Specialist. I was very happy there as well but after two years there I became pregnant. After maternity leave I did not return back to work because it was too far of a commute for me. I then found a better paying and closer job to home, which was great. I then realized that these jobs, I am getting only require a High School diploma.

In about five years from now, I want to be a Graduate from a Cal State University, with a Bachelors Degree in Business / Accounting. I want to peruse my career in accounting working for the FBI or the IRS. In about ten years from now, my son will be eleven- years old. I would expect to have a house for him. I also see myself financially stable, maybe even having another child. I also see myself growing in the company, which I would be working for. In about twenty- years from now, my son would be twenty-one years old. I would expect him to be attending a University finishing his first two years of college. I would only be in my forty’s so I would still be working. Or maybe I would have my own business, a tax service company. Or maybe I would go back to college to get a Master’s Degree. But in order for all my dreams and goals to become reality I have to first earn a Bachelors Degree.

Currently I’m attending Cerritos Community College, I am working on a Business Administration transfer program, which would transfer me to Cal State Dominguez Hills or Cal State Long Beach, to earn a Bachelors Degree in Business / Accounting. I know by coming back to school, I am going to have to conquer many obstacles, especially now that I have a child. However I see this as a new beginning for me, and it’s for the best. I came back to school for many reasons one being that I need to further my education in order to get the career I want. Second would be family values, I want my son to go to college too, and I would have to set an example for him. Third, I feel that by going to college it will make feel better about my self, in the sense that I have educated my self. Fourth I feel that if I want a better future for family, and myself I must earn my degree. How would I end a personal essay about myself? Please help.?
OK as it is - it looks to the future so no need for any overly finite flourish. How would I end a personal essay about myself? Please help.?
Its a very interesting read. I don't think you need to add anything to end it though. It's fine as it is.
is this like a c.v. coz its a bit too informative about your working acheivements...if its a c.v. its good ...end by saying u look forward to an amazing future with great kids and a wonderful husband, but also to getting a good job and be able to educate those still learning in their young years.

however, if this is just an essay about urself, liven up a little, and describe stuff about yourself. focus on u as a person and not the feats u want...be a little lighter on the educational side of ur life

    good luck

    lol
Your first problem is paragraphs that are too long. Cut them up (by topic) and use Transitional phrases to make the connection obvious.

...Through a degree in accounting I will be better able to support my family.

You might consider working for a tax service and see if you really like the work. Have you investigated the requirements for applying for a job with the IRS? Many community colleges have a Career Day. Go. You might learn valuable information.

How to help my homeless son?

What do I do to help my son? He lives under the I-80 bridge near Elkhorn Blvd. in the Sacramento area. He is hungry and wants a way out, but he just doesn't know what to do and I can't even think what to tell him. I live 1,800 miles away in Oklahoma. And I am out of work and poor to boot. But I know he needs help. He has some mental issues. He is severely bi-polar with psychotic paranoia. He has never held down a job. He is 28 years old. He has had maybe 4 jobs in his life but can't handle the pressure of working at a public job. The jobs never lasted beyond 2 weeks. Before you say anything, you should know that he is NOT lazy. He is the hardest worker I have ever seen. He works all the time for other homeless people, helping to build shelters. He even does yard work for people. He will see some older person mowing the yard and he will finish the job for them. He won't accept money for it either. He just likes to help. He was always my hardest working kid. He just doesn't do well with a public job. He freaks out, thinking that he is going to get fired or that other employees are out to get him. He even thinks the cops and the FBI are watching him. He moves his campsite frequently, because he is sure that they will want to kill him. The thing is, he is not on any government assistance or on any medications. He doesn't understand how to even get help for himself. He lives on squirels and has admited that he ate stray cats. He had to eat something. When you are hungry enough, you do what you do. He won't go to a shelter because they won't let him bring his dog. He has a dog that someone gave him, and he says that if it wasn't for his dog he would have froze to death. He is probably right about that. Sacramento isn't as cold as some places but it did snow there just a few weeks back. My son needs help and I don't know who or where to call. Do you?How to help my homeless son?
If you are willing to take him in, he can get to you for free. There's a place called Francis House that will provide him a one way Greyhound bus ticket to your city. It's called a ';return to residence'; ticket. He will need to provide your address and phone number so they can call and confirm. The ticket is usually available the next day. He should get there very early in the morning and get in line, take a number and wait. They can only provide so much per day. Their website is here -----%26gt; http://www.francishouse.info/

Loaves and Fishes will provide him with food as they provide lunch every day for the homeless and very poor. He should ask one of the other homeless folks to walk him through it. It's quite simple, really. He shows up, gets his free lunch ticket and then waits for his number group to be called. If he's number 356, he'd eat when they called 350-400. Works like that. They'll ask him if he has a TB card when he gets his lunch ticket and if he doesn't, they'll just tell him where to go to get one and write his name in, but they won't force the issue. Francis House is only a few blocks from Loaves and Fishes. The Loaves and Fishes website is here -----%26gt; http://www.sacloaves.org/ He can also shower and shave there and swap out his dirty clothing for clean clothing in the men's shower area. They also have a kennel area where they will look after and feed his dog while he showers, eats and does all the other stuff he needs to do. If he needs pet food for the dog to take to camp with him, they'll give him some of that as well. It's definitely worth it for him to acquaint himself with L%26amp;F and their services. Oh, and he should ask them for a ';street sheet'; while he's there so he can see where other services that may aid him are located and what they offer.

Your son is eligible for food stamps and general assistance. GA, or any cash welfare grant in the US now, is a LOAN and needs to be repaid. He needs to be aware of that. Food stamps are not and he would be eligible for emergency approval. He would receive an appointment within three days and then his food stamps on an EBT card the same day. He should wait until the middle of the month if he doesn't like being around a lot of people, though. He also needs to apply for Social Security disability when he gets to OK if he goes there, if not, he should do it immediately. The feds are absolute pukes, so he should get a lawyer the minute he gets his denial letter - and he will get one. Any lawyer he gets should be one willing to send him to their own doctors at their own expense. If he collects GA in the interim, the county will get his lump sum check so they are paid back the money they paid out then forward the remainder to him.

While it didn't snow here a few weeks back (that is very, very rare) we did have a nasty hailstorm that lingered on the ground. I was very worried for our homeless folks that day. It's also been exceptionally cold this winter, so if there's any way you CAN take him, please do so. My Kindred (it's like a church group for Nordic Heathens) and I do a lot of outreach with the very poor and homeless in Sacramento and we are simply overwhelmed. The Catholic church is also feeling the strain (they run L%26amp;F and Francis house) and they number in the thousands. There's only a bit over 100 of us in my Kindred so I'm amazed we are still able to do some of the things we do. There's a very good chance if I saw your son we would recognize each other. If not, he'd most likely recognize another member of my Kindred as we don't limit ourselves to the downtown area around L%26amp;F. We do tromp around looking for those more isolated camps. The vast majority of people we interact with just don't know they're dealing with Nordic/Germanic Heathens or that we're even an organized group. *shrug*

Do push him to help himself this way if you can. He does need to be persistent and I know that is hard for people with severe mental illness, but it really is the only way for him to even start taking those first steps to get himself the help he needs.

Oh, and (((hugz))). You probably needed one, no?How to help my homeless son?
Why don't YOU take him in?
You have a couple of good answers already. Will he go to mental health at all? They also have a social services part that can possibly help. Is he a veteran? VA also offers help. Besides Loaves and Fishes California Emergency Foodlink Sacramento, CA Phone: 916-387-9000 toll free: 1-800-283-9000 http://www.foodlink.org/ (there is an email contact form on the site too) can help him find other places to get food. If he will come where you are and the return to residence can help him would it be possible for him to stay at a shelter near you and dog stay at your place if his staying with you is not an option? That way you could help him get mental health services and possibly a place to stay through Metal Health. That would also mean that you could be his ';substitute payee'; when he does get a disability check. Another option would be to seek a gas voucher from Salvation Army, any church you attend or a friend attends, or other help place there where you are and in CA so you or someone there could o get him. That way dog can come too and I have a feeling that that may be the only way he would come even w/out the pressure and confusion of a bus trip. It may also be that a humane society there would help pay to ship dog to OK or that a relay of volunteers could be set up to help. This group may have some ideas for doing that too http://www.cesarsway.com.

It is very hard to help someone long distance and even more so when they have the kinds of problems you describe. Thank youn for reaching out and not giving up. I will pray for you and for your son.
In my opinion he needs help. There is little chance that he can function and get his life together until he gets the help he needs. That would mean getting some sort of assistance for health insurance and having him see a doctor/psychologist so he can get medication. I would say that is the first thing you need to focus on though is his mental health. Once he has established some stability, then he will be able to hold a job and get things in order. See if he can get medicaid.

I really hope everything works out. I know the heartache of seeing someone you love being homeless. I will say a prayer for your family. :]

Dna tracking down a killer question?

I'm writing a short story and I'm curious, how does the fbi track rapists? Say the rapist leaves traces of sperm on the victim, will the FBI be able to track the guy down or would he have to have submitted a sperm sample in the past to be tracked down?

Does the FBI take sperm samples? I heard that they take a cotton swab and rub it against the persons mouth, can they compare that to the sperm sample to track the guy down?

And are there any jobs that require you to submit dna to get the job?

I want to come up with an accurate way to get the killer caught in my story.Dna tracking down a killer question?
The FBI wouldn't generally get involved in rape or murder cases -- these would fall to local authorities unless the crimes were committed on federal property. I don't know of any law enforcement organization that takes sperm samples from males -- a cheek swab is all that is needed.

How to turn my life around?

Ok. Other than, say, those that starve in ethiopia..

And ';friends'; that have been imprisoned out of stupidity..

I'd say my life has been pretty screwed up.

I went straight for the family business during school, achieved my GED later because everybody ';praised'; the Good-Enough-Diploma.

All the GED is now, is a laughing-stock, far more than against pure dropouts. Yeah, and the family business failed because the old man became addicted to internet gambling.. crap. Useless.

I'm now in another state, keep hearing about the economy going to Hell. My job has me to 3 days out of the week, under 6 hours a day.

They're talking about and considering removing our Fridays, so that's 2 days a week. Can't keep up with my bills that way. Oh, and when it comes to getting another job: There's this girl in Austin who comes up for every background check on me. The FBI's identity-theft hotline is strictly automated ';report only';, I can't speak with them, and it doesn't seem to have been resolved.

Not even the military will accept me because of a ';genetic eye disease';. I explained to them it was a pencil in 2nd grade. They ignored me. Told me I couldn't handle night-vision missions when my eyes are LIGHT sensitive. (which means perfect night vision btw) They're morons.

Now. I don't have money, can't get money.

Get another job? I can't. Identity theft unresolved and everybody does background checks.

    Join the military? Read above.

Get a grant/loan? GED, can't get a grant, have tried many times.

As for loan, I can't even make my car loan.

I'm.. out of ideas. I need someone with better experience to brainstorm here. How can I turn this around? How to turn my life around?
Meet new people, move around and do things you've never done before. How to turn my life around?
    chill and relax..
we all create our own realities. every situation we're in is because of the thoughts, words and choices we made.

if you continue saying negative things about yourself, others and life, that is all you will continue to get. likes attracts like.

once you start imagining yourself or your life the way you want it (you have to know exactly what you want for this to work) then soon enough your life will transform to that.

I will tell you another secret that is so simple too.

    ';to get what you want, you have to give what you want';

meaning; you want more money? well you are going to have to give a little bit of your money away (to charity, needy, homeless etc..) but you have to do it positively and imagine the outcome (i.e you with more money) already happening, in this present moment. Once I started doing this, my life turned around so amazingly.

the single best thing you can do for yourself and this world is to think, speak and act positively.
You can't turn it around do to the fact that you are 100% worthless. don't you think you should get a job before you start making toy guns? If you run out of money and food may I suggest committing a crime and going to jail? At least you will have food and a dude named ';Bubba'; to show you some love( if you know what I mean).

    P.S.

I normally wouldn't blatantly insult people i don't know but as the old saying goes in my neck of the woods ';Don't start none, won't be none)

Do you like my main character?

I was just wondering if you found my character interesting in any way.

    Name: Dane Alexander

    Age: 34

    Gender: Male

Personality: Short-temped, conceited, outgoing, sarcastic, fun-loving, adventurous, argumenative, brave, protective, charismatic, charming, humorous, moody, observant.

Description: Dark brown perfectly tousled hair, forrest green eyes, muscular, normally wears dress clothes, known to wear crazy ties.

Mini Biography: Dane grew up in San Diego, California with his mom, alcoholic father, and bossy older brother Marc. When he was fourteen, his father came home drunk and hit his mother. He never forgot the sight, which is why is against drinking. Dane and his father, John, do not have a good relationship because of that evening. When Dane was seventeen, John abandoned his family and moved to Oklahoma.

Dane took care of his mother, Karen, until he moved out to North Carolina when he was twenty-seven to take a job as a police officer. Marc and Dane work in the same state, but Marc is in the FBI, which is where Dane always wanted to be, which caused a strain in the brothers' relationship.

Dane married the girl of his dreams, Lisa, when he was twenty-eight. A few years later, Lisa and Dane gave birth to McKenzie. Later, they gave birth to Elliot. McKenzie is eight years old and Elliot is four years old.

Although Dane is very outgoing and charismatic, Dane has constant thoughts about his wife divorcing him because his job requires most of his attention, since he and Lisa always argue about how time consuming his job is. Dane's biggest fear is losing his family.

He has an extremely short temper and is moody quite often, which is why his family and co-workers get angry at him almost everyday. Dane is known to blow up, even at a crime scene. He has thrown equipment because of his anger and has nearly lost his job multiple times.

Dane relates to others really well. He loves going to parties and just having fun. He is a people person and a people pleaser. Dane is the life of the party. He is always cracking a joke or making a sarcastic comment, though he would never try to purposely hurt someone's feelings with his jokes.

What do you think about him?

Thanks! Much appreciated!Do you like my main character?
No, not realistic at all, flaws like ';a short temper'; are not deep enough. No one could relate to this stock character, and if no one can be emotionally invested in the main character what's the point of writing a story.Do you like my main character?
Well I guess, but your confusing me when you say he's a people person, but people get mad at him almost everyday.

    Whatever it's your story though...
Yes, I love your main character. I think he is very interesting.
Readers fall in love with a character based on that character's Voice in your manuscript. You can have a fabulous character sketched out but what matters is the execution on the page. Also, what draws us to characters is not just their personality but how they handle whatever they're up against.

Dane certainly has his fair share of flaws and good points but I can't say whether I'd like him until I read him. I will say that telling us he's constantly short-tempered with people and throws equipment at crime scenes but then following that with ';he relates to others really well'; seems like a huge contradiction.
The character is one dimensional and boring. Besides, readers want to learn about their characters by what they do, not by some resume that the author presents. Try writing your character into a story and see if he comes alive.
