Description: Dark brown perfectly tousled hair, forrest green eyes, muscular, normally wears dress clothes, known to wear crazy ties.



Mini Biography: Dane grew up in San Diego, California with his mom, alcoholic father, and bossy older brother Marc. When he was fourteen, his father came home drunk and hit his mother. He never forgot the sight, which is why is against drinking. Dane and his father, John, do not have a good relationship because of that evening. When Dane was seventeen, John abandoned his family and moved to Oklahoma.



Dane took care of his mother, Karen, until he moved out to North Carolina when he was twenty-seven to take a job as a police officer. Marc and Dane work in the same state, but Marc is in the FBI, which is where Dane always wanted to be, which caused a strain in the brothers' relationship.



Dane married the girl of his dreams, Lisa, when he was twenty-eight. A few years later, Lisa and Dane gave birth to McKenzie. Later, they gave birth to Elliot. McKenzie is eight years old and Elliot is four years old.



Although Dane is very outgoing and charismatic, Dane has constant thoughts about his wife divorcing him because his job requires most of his attention, since he and Lisa always argue about how time consuming his job is. Dane's biggest fear is losing his family.



He has an extremely short temper and is moody quite often, which is why his family and co-workers get angry at him almost everyday. Dane is known to blow up, even at a crime scene. He has thrown equipment because of his anger and has nearly lost his job multiple times.



Dane relates to others really well. He loves going to parties and just having fun. He is a people person and a people pleaser. Dane is the life of the party. He is always cracking a joke or making a sarcastic comment, though he would never try to purposely hurt someone's feelings with his jokes.

No, not realistic at all, flaws like ';a short temper'; are not deep enough. No one could relate to this stock character, and if no one can be emotionally invested in the main character what's the point of writing a story.Do you like my main character?
Well I guess, but your confusing me when you say he's a people person, but people get mad at him almost everyday.



Whatever it's your story though...
Yes, I love your main character. I think he is very interesting.
Readers fall in love with a character based on that character's Voice in your manuscript. You can have a fabulous character sketched out but what matters is the execution on the page. Also, what draws us to characters is not just their personality but how they handle whatever they're up against.



Dane certainly has his fair share of flaws and good points but I can't say whether I'd like him until I read him. I will say that telling us he's constantly short-tempered with people and throws equipment at crime scenes but then following that with ';he relates to others really well'; seems like a huge contradiction.
The character is one dimensional and boring. Besides, readers want to learn about their characters by what they do, not by some resume that the author presents. Try writing your character into a story and see if he comes alive.

Lied at meps?

When I went up to meps a few weeks ago I lied about my criminal history, saying I never got arrested. The arrest itself wasn't over anything serious but it is the fact that I actually got fingerprinted and arrested that worries me. Everyone I asked told me not to say anything about it so I didn't.



The job I want requires a top secret clearance. I hear that people who do have records sealed and doesn't show up in a local search, it still comes up on the FBI report and they don't get their clearance and in turn not get their job. Should I come clean with this? If so, how do I do so now that I am in DEP? My recruiter said that if I said anything about it, I wouldn't get the job I want, but the offense wasn't anything serious (I was just in an elementary school at the wrong time and got charged for breaking %26amp; entering and theft as I took some candy and hall passes). I am more worried about the marine corps thinking I'm a liar and refusing my clearance based on that.Lied at meps?
You need to correct this immediately.



If you need a TS clearance, they will find out about it. It doesn't matter what it was about, the fact that you lied about it will disqualify you from a TS Clearance. You need to be Trustworthy to work with our nation's secrets.



When you talk with the investigator who will do your initial interview for your background invetigation, tell them about it. Tell them everything, including why you lied about it in the first place. They do understand that people will tell you not to say anything about it, or that you were told to lied about it by people who would normally give you sound advice. In this case, they were wrong and you know that.



Your recruiter was an idiot for telling you that.

If they start your security investigation and find out, you will separated for a fraudulent enlistment.

While telling them, might prevent you from recieving a security clearance. There are plenty of jobs in the military that do not need security clearances.



By not telling them, you are basicly setting yourself up to be kicked out of the military, given a bad discharge.
YES COME CLEAN! During bootcamp I had a friend who was almost discharged because he had gotten arrested while he was in DEP. He was told not to worry about it since it was minor, so he didn't say anything about it. Then about midway through bootcamp, when we were just starting to get our military CAC ID cards, he never got his and had to go talk to legal or something. They told him he could be sent to the brig and/or dishonorably discharged.
if your recruiter knows, and told you not to say anything, then he is dead wrong. if you looking for a TS clearance, they are going to find it. your best bet is just to say ';o i forgot all about this one time....'; if you come clean, and no charges were made, then you might be alright. if they find it on there own, it will raise other questions.
if your arrest was nothing serious then why didnt you open your mouth. You gambled and you lost now suffer the consequences. Just answer the questions that are asked of you..in the first 2 days of boot camp this is gonna come up, they will ask if there is anything you left out and you better be clean...why start your military career with a lie? good luck and Semper Fi!
You can try and come clean now. The arrest will show up in your background check. If you lie, they can get you for fraudulent enlistment, kick you out and you can never jointhe military again. Go to your recruiter, tell him straight up and see what he can do for you to keep you in. Depending on what you were arrest for, it may not make any difference in getting your clearance. They are more interested in your ability to tell the truth! It will be better for you if you tell them vs. they find out about it on your background check.
If the charges were dropped or you were found Not Guilty do not even worry about it. If you were found guilty or had any type of conditions with your charge they are going to find out.
either way, you're pretty much f*cked because now that you lied about it even if you come clean you aren't going to get a TS clearance. whoever told you that it won't turn up during the clearance background investigation is dead wrong. your best bet is to tell your recruiter so he can try to change your MOS choice that won't require a TS clearance. if you go thru with the clearance they will turn up your lie and worst case scenario they can discharge you for fraudulent enlistment. meps is the wrong place to lie about stupid sh*t, my friend.

Let me start in saying that I have the utmost respect for law enforcement officers, they have a tough job, and I personally have had a few run ins with the law, in my history I have never resisted an officer, or even disrespected them, as only a fool would do that. My grandfather developed the first ';911'; type system in NY, my other grandfather was an FBI agent, I have a cousin who is on the Miami police force, I respect the job they do protecting us. I ran into a bad apple that needs some attention before he accidentally kills someone, if he has not already.



I recently had an experience where I was suffocated by a Detroit City Police officer named ';Stone';. I have been researching this ';Stone'; character for 4 months and have heard everything from rape accusations, stealing money, doing ';busts'; that don’t get reported to the precinct (money and drugs disappearing), intimidation, blackmail, assault, and a few speculators who say that some have ceased to exist after crossing him.



Everyone I meet who has had direct contact is afraid of him has they are stuck here and cannot get away, he is in a sense acting as though he is living in the movie training day, as the lead character, not the good guy mind you.



My personal experience begins with being suffocated to the point of almost blackout, with my fiancée as a witness and 3 other women who are so afraid for their lives that they do whatever he wants.



As I have a properly licensed business I find myself having to go to meetings in Detroit regarding the sale of Crude Oil contracts among other internet type set ups, the officer ';Stone'; has informed me that if he sees me in his part of town I will get much worse than being strangled. My question is how much worse can it get?



I heard of a white boy (the officer appears to be of light complexion) that the officer beat until he could not see through his eyes. A woman was raped and she has been pressing charges but the precinct is not responding.



I have filed a complaint at his precinct and asked to press full assault charges, I also am getting limited response from the normal means.



If I were to go strangle someone, I would be arrested. If an officer of the law does it is he not subject to the same laws? Being completely compliant with my hands behind my head on the floor, being picked up by my neck (of which I have re-aggravated previous injuries) and being suffocated by crushing my windpipe between his two hands and asked to answer questions when I could not even breath, and when I could not respond loud enough being thrown by my neck across the room to a couch. Had I been less muscular he very well could have broken my neck.



He also threatened to shoot my fiancée, who is 18, under 5 foot tall and under 100 lbs. She is so shook up she wants us to leave Detroit and never come back, she is so shook up.





I want to stand up for those people that are stuck there, that cannot afford to press charges or stand up to him, because it is the right thing to do.



I of course am not perfect, and often find myself in the grey area of things. However, my choice of company should not jeopardize my life, especially not from an officer of the law. Someone needs to stand up to this joker, and it might as well be me. What is the worst he can do, kill me?



Actually, I have been told that is exactly what he will do. So my question is who do I report this to? I am not from the Detroit area, I have lived all over the USA, and never seen anything quite like this before.



Is there a news on your side thing, or some civil rights organization around here, perhaps there is some media outlet that would take on the story, or should I go to the FBI as he has stated that he just “hates white people.” He profiled me without asking any questions and for whatever reason decided he wanted to kill me.. Thank the lord he did not complete his attempt. I would almost say that the strangulation is attempted murder. I understand he has a tough job, but as far as I know, we have a justice system that has rules and guidelines, I think he thinks he is judge, jury and executioner.



Now the other thing is that seeing how he operates, I would think the prosecutors should re-look every single case he has filed and every testimony he has given. The days of “beating” a confession out of someone died when civil rights activists put an end to it. I am sure that if someone talked to the last 20 people he arrested, over half would have a story of assault, either sexual or physical.



Frankly, I think his method of trying to obtain information is a form of terrorism, to heck with water boarding, he goes right for the throat. I have a right not to be treated like that, so do you. It could have happened to you if you had considered doing some handyman type work that day in the wrong house.

First thing i think you should do is go to the State Police. They are supposed to act on situations involving city or county officers.

If he is state, then you go to the F.B.I.

Or you can go to them immediately if any business you are involved in is interstate because by threatening you he is impeding interstate commerce.

My girlfriend said said a copy of your complaint to the police chief (keep record) as well as the state attorney general for michigan, as well as Fox 2 and channel 7 news. How about the Govenor. Keep a low profile. Very low under the radar. You have a life at the moment.

I am assuming you are in the USA?

I don't know the answer to your question regarding living independently and getting the daily support. You need to look into your local governement as to what is available in terms of support resources, funding, somebody to assist with case co-ordination etc.



Are you using a powerchair now or not yet? I assume you are - since I know of NO ONE who is 21 with MD and NOT using a wheelchair.

Working with animals? Possibly, but are you strong enough now to pick them up or even hold them?

From all my experience, the lucky guys who got themselves some sort of employment (all part time), they work in an office. Using keyboard and computer are usually better for someone with your condition.



I don't think Y!A will have any answer for you. I suggest you talk with someone in the local community services and employment agencies regarding your future plan of living on your own and finding a job. But even if there are nojobs, think outside the square - there may be something worthwhile you can also engage your time.

From a programmer to a cop?

Well, I am actually just getting out of college with an Associates in IT but from all the doom and gloom I've been reading online about outsourcing and people hating this job I am thinking about doing something else. I really wanted to get into the FBI eventually and having experience in IT is one of their skill courses you can take.



I am only 21 years old and haven't really started a career yet so now I'm thinking it might be best to go into something else rather in programming.



So I guess my question is do you all think I should just be a cop or something instead rather then program? I like programming but I'm not crazy over it especially now that I am hearing all of these horror stories about how it sucks and programmers are fading out. As a long term career choice what should I do?From a programmer to a cop?

When choosing a carrier (that is something you intend to do for considerable length of time) choose something that YOU like and that YOU will like doing for the next 10-20-30 years...

If want to be a programmer, be a programmer. I'm a programmer and I have no qualms about job security. There are many jobs available that need computer people and can not outsource jobs to other countries.



If other hate their job, that is their issue. You can still get into the FBI, you know? You see all the TV shows that have tech people. I really think if you had first hand knowledge of any of this than you would have been obligated to tell the authorities regardless of the fact that you are holding this info for some type of monetary gain. You could be held liable under the patriot act which would allow you no rights at all. This means no access to a lawyer and the possibility of having your citizenship revoked even if you were born in the US because you could be classified as an unlawful combatant.
