I want to eventually get a job with an agency like ncis or the fbi. Maybe both. I have a college degree in history and a minor in psychology. Should I join the police or the military, I was thinking navy intelligence. Which one would help me with the federal government, Police experience or military experience?How do I get a job with the federal government?
You have the right idea. Get a government job. The American dream. The FBI needs good and honorable peopleHow do I get a job with the federal government?
The government? Hmm..... just be lazy, then lie, then plan on being abusive to taxpayers. That should do the trick.
I'm going to say military, because of the quicker advancement's you can receive, additional education resources, Health/General life benefits, and because you would be working for the government on a different level than the police force.
Instead of navy intelligence, I'd suggest Coast Guard. The CG is apart of the department of homeland security, which works with both the intelligence community and law enforcement. They are inter-agency and work along with the FBI on a national level. With the CG or Navy you would have to receive a security clearance. The level, of course, would be depending on your position and MOS and as you advance that security clearance advances as well. Having a past high security clearance when applying to NCIS and the FBI would give you more leverage and clout than someone who has never received or has a low SC.
With a college education you could begin your career as a Officer in the Navy or CG. However you'd have to check into that because certain MOS's require certain degrees. Hope this helps!
Do research on what qualifications are required for ncis and fbi. Your degree is useless.
Police will not yield you a high paying job.
Military would require you to do basic training. Naval intelligence is not something you just wake up one morning and say ';I'd like to try that!';
