Is getting into the FBI still competitive?

I just saw in a Yahoo! news article the other day that said the FBI needs people, and the Bureau needs people now - especially special agents. So, I applied last night.

Based on what I'm experiencing, a lot of my friends who have been out of work for some time are not interested in working for the FBI at all. So, I figured that since the FBI needs to fill thousands of positions, and most people with college and advanced degrees aren't interested, then getting a job in the FBI is not as competitive as it used to be. What do you think about this?

BTW, since I applied last night, how long do you think it'll take them to respond? Is getting into the FBI still competitive?
I'm sure you will have a job by this time next week...The FBI is probably foaming at the mouth right now over your application...What kind of retard thinks getting into the bureau is not as competitive as it used to be??? Jesus, get a clue...Is getting into the FBI still competitive?
With so many new positions to fill, you will have an easy time getting in. Personally, I wouldn't want to be in law enforcement. But that's just me.
I think you are mistaken about the people with degrees and advanced degrees. There are far more than 3,000 of them who have been laid off and are prime FBI recruits. The FBI has not lowered the entrance requirements. To do that would invite crackpots and morons to apply. The response time for the Federal Government to reply to a job query can be six months. The FBI estimates that they will receive about 365,000 job applications for these positions. That make less than 1% of them that will get hired.
